Specialty Forklift Tires
When it comes to traditional forklift tires, the most common types are pneumatic and cushion tires. These tires are usually made of several compounds and can be solid rubber or air filled. They have many different tread styles depending on the application they are being used for. They can often be repaired when they take damage as well. But there are still those applications out there that require different, specialty forklift tires for the job. Let’s take a look at some of those.
Fiberglass Tires
When you are operating a forklift for long periods of time, things tend to heat up. As most tires are made of rubber, heat is a bad thing. It causes premature wear and tear on your tires and they lose their structural integrity faster. Fiberglass tires have an additional element that works as a resistor to the heat, helping your tires to last longer.
Polyurethane Tires
In some industries, materials may be chemical and hazardous. On occasion these materials may make contact with the floor and work surface, which can cause damage to equipment. Polyurethane forklift tires are resistant to chemicals, making them ideal for situations where they may come in contact with each other.
Static Resistant Tires
If you work around combustible materials or environments that may be explosive, the build up of static is bad. Safety precautions are taken everywhere they can be. Static resistant tires are designed to reduce static discharge in environment where fumes may be present.
Cold-Prepped Tires
When you work outdoors in the elements all year, it gets slippery in the winter. Cement and concrete build up ice and your forklift may lose traction. Cold-prepped tires have an additional layer to them that provides traction in these environments. This makes carrying loads safer for your operator and your equipment.
